In Hamburg, the police carried out a large-scale traffic check, inspecting a total of 1,186 vehicles and 561 road users. The main focus was on illegally parked vehicles and technical defects in vehicles.
As a result, more than 1,000 traffic violations were recorded. Among these were nine cases of driving without a valid driver’s licence. There were also several offences that may be treated as criminal, such as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and violations of compulsory insurance regulations.
The majority of registered violations were administrative in nature, including numerous parking offences, running red lights, mobile phone use while driving, and failure to wear seat belts.
Additionally, more than two hundred reports were issued due to technical defects or missing documents. In some cases, drivers were temporarily prohibited from continuing their journey.
Police also engaged in preventive discussions with road users and distributed informational material about safe behaviour on the roads. Authorities announced plans for future similar controls.
